Become a Mentor

Huntsmen and Huntmasters are volunteer mentors that are essential to the Hunter Outreach Program's mission of promoting and teaching safe, ethical, and responsible hunting to those who have never hunted or have limited hunting experience. Such an ambitious endeavor could not succeed without the outdoor knowledge and love of wildlife brought by experienced hunters from all across Colorado. Each year, hundreds of Coloradans experience hunting and shooting sports for the first time through the program's educational seminars, skills clinics, and unique hunting opportunities made possible by volunteers.

Huntsmen

Huntsmen are screened, qualified mentors who assist with planning and conducting clinics, seminars and hunts. They support Huntmasters during events as photographers, shooting instructors, cooks, registration officials, and much more. If interested, select volunteers may receive additional training to become certified Huntmasters.

Huntmasters

Huntmasters play a central role in planning, coordinating and conducting hunts and hunting activities that educate youth and novice hunters. Huntmasters should seek opportunities to work with new landowners and engage new Huntsmen. Program growth is dependent on the dedicated efforts of our program volunteers. Prospective Huntmasters attend a specially designed certification workshop.
